Carnegie Medal of Philanthropy

Roshan Cultural Heritage Institute is honored to announce that Roshan Cultural Heritage Institute Director Pierre Omidyar, and his wife Pam, have been awarded the 2011 Carnegie Medal of Philanthropy. The award is bestowed to individuals who, like Andrew Carnegie, have dedicated their private wealth to public good, and who have sustained impressive careers as philanthropists. In his remarks at the invitation-only ceremony at the New York Public Library, Mr. Omidyar reflected on their aspirations and the recognition noting, “We remain firm in our belief that people are basically good and inherently capable.

That when provided with opportunity, they will accomplish amazing things. It is our great honor to do this work, and we are grateful for the privilege.” A profile of the Omidyars’ work was featured in the Huffington Post.
